These Costa Rican Caturra varietals are certified SHB (strictly hard bean), which indicates these coffee beans are grown at altitudes above 3,900 feet. High altitude slows the growth of the coffee trees and causes the fruit to mature very slowly. This long maturing process results in a dense coffee cherry containing beans that are packed with rich flavor. The beans are then cultivated and wet-processed in the region of Tarrazu.
We medium roast these precious Costa Rica Reserve beans to brew into a medium-bodied coffee that has a smooth cocoa flavor with a caramel undertone. With its high acidity, this coffee produces a cup that is winy and has a sharp finish.
